The board voted in January to slightly change the location
of the 2008 convention from Estes Park to Boulder, Colorado.
Boulder is a larger and more cosmopolitan city, and
offers a greater variety of activities than Estes Park.
However, the lack of hotel availability, due to a University
of Colorado home football game, has forced us to change
the convention date to the following week from what
was originally posted.
The convention will now be held
at the Millenium Harvest House in Boulder from Saturday,
September 13 to Wednesday, September 17. The hotel's
website is:
There will likely be an informal
reception on Friday evening, September 12. Additional
pricing and program information will be posted soon.
Members interested in being considered for a presentation
slot should contact Tom Bleich at tdbleich@yahoo.com.
Boulder is approximately 1-hour
by car to the entrance of the Rocky Mountain National
Park (RMNP). There will be a full-day photo safari
to the park during the convention. For more information

IAPP INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION
Every 18 Months IAPP holds an International
Convention, usually based on the IAPP Presidents recommendation
and approved by the Board of directors. Our past President
Dan Rose, selected a site near to the Rocky Mountain
National Park. Although this location was heartily
accepted the facilities were found to be lacking in
convenience and suitability. However, after an extensive
site selection we determined that the near by city
of Boulder, Colorado was an ideal substitute location
for the convention and we are pleased to announce that
the IAPP 17th International Convention will be held
at the Boulder location from 13 through 17 September,
2008.
Boulder, Colorado is located
just 36 miles north west of Denver International
airport a major transportation hub with convenient
shuttle transportation. The Rocky Mountain National
Park is just another 36 miles north west of Boulder;
and one of this years convention highlights will
be a one day group photo safari to the Park.
The Park has abundant wildlife; deer, moose, antelope,
beaver, birds etc. Mountain streams, falls and
lakes are just short hikes and alpine views abound.
At the very western and highest point in the park
one can find the headwaters of the Colorado River
which formed the Grand Canyon National Park. Since
The Rocky Mountain National Park is very extensive,
we recommend for those that have time to vacation
before or after the convention that the park and
the area surrounding Denver and Boulder will provide
extensive unlimited photographic and vacation opportunities
and; IAPP will attempt to help anyone considering
such a more extensive stay.
The IAPP convention city,
Boulder is at the foot of the Rocky Mountains and
there will be ample opportunities during the convention
to photograph the historic city, mountain and park
views, the nearby canyons and
scenic areas. Boulder creek runs through
the heart of the city and provides wonderful photographic
opportunities right near the convention hotel.
The convention will be held at the
Millenniun Harvest House Hotel, located on 17 acres
of Parkland along Boulder creek with bike and waking
paths just 1 mile from the historic district.
NOTE: IAPPmembers should
make hotel reservation directly with the Hotel as
soon as possible. The cut off date for Hotel reservations
at the special rate is 13 August. The special room

the convention dates. The following table lists various
